Our Safe At Home Program
Our Safe at Home program offers year-round service to income-qualified homeowners in San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara County needing critical safety repairs and accessibility modifications.
Typical repairs include, but are not limited to:
- Grab Bars
- Wheelchair Ramps
- Fence, Gate, and Stair Repair
- Plumbing and Electrical Repairs
- Fire Extinguisher & Smoke/CO Detector Installation
- Carpentry Work
- Door and Window Repair / Replacement

If you are a homeowner in need of repairs, please visit our Application page for program eligibility and more information on our services. Once you qualify and your application is complete, we’ll schedule a Safe at Home assessment at your home.
Safe at Home repairs are provided by our on-staff technicians, our AmeriCorps members, and/or skilled volunteers offering their services. Larger repair needs may be performed by contractors or professional tradesmen and women.
All work is provided at no cost to qualifying homeowners.

Need Other Repairs?
If there are additional repair needs in your home, you may qualify for additional assistance through our Lead Paint Safety or Rebuilding Days programs. Income-qualifying homeowners may be eligible to receive safe and healthy housing-related repairs at no cost. For more information, visit our program pages.
How to Support
Our Safe at Home program addresses minor repairs before they become larger and even more costly issues. In doing so, we help preserve affordable home ownership for some of our most vulnerable neighbors, including seniors, veterans, families experiencing disabilities and medical care in the home, and otherwise typically marginalized community members.
