Donate to Rebuild Lives

Since 1989, Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP) has offered free, critical home repairs for our most vulnerable neighbors across the San Francisco Peninsula.

The success of our mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives is sustained through generous individual, corporate, and community support for our year-round and Rebuilding Day programs

A donation gift today helps provide our beneficiaries in San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara County with hope, dignity, and the opportunity to live in a safer and healthier home. Visit our Community Impact and our Program Case Studies pages to learn more about the multiple benefits and results of our work.

We make it easy to give by accepting payment via check, credit card, or PayPal. In addition to financial contributions, you can also support us through a variety of other means – take a look at the dropdown menu below for options.

  • Leave a Rebuilding Legacy

Identifying a gift for RTP in your will, trust, or other estate plan will serve our vision of safe homes and communities for everyone into the future, and will provide lasting support for our critical mission.

    • Through a Will or Trust: Instructing a gift in your will or trust is the simplest way to provide RTP with future support at a specified amount.
    • Through Retirement Plans or Similar Accounts: You may choose to name RTP as a beneficiary of a portion of your financial planning assets, such as an individual retirement account (IRA), 401(k), 403(b), donor-advised fund, life insurance policy, or similar. To do so, contact your specific plan administrator and update the correct beneficiary form.

It is recommended to also confer with any planning professionals you may have engaged, including financial advisors, estate attorneys, or your named executor to identify appropriate gift options.

Should you have questions as you plan such a legacy gift, please contact Georgia Savoca at (650) 980-9185 or georgia@rtpeninsula.org (please use “Legacy Gift” in your email subject line).

  • If you wish to donate securities, we ask that you, your broker, or your banking institution contact us with information about the stock you’ll be donating and when you expect to make the gift.

To request a stock transfer from your broker, we suggest using the following language:

“Please transfer from my account (insert your name and account number here), (number of shares) of (name & symbol of stock).
To: Rebuilding Together Peninsula Account # MP 2319-4939, DTC Number 0164, Code 40, Charles Schwab & Co., PO Box 52114, Phoenix, AZ 85114, Attention Cashiering, Telephone: 650.614.2000.

  • When individuals take distributions from their IRAs, it usually counts as income for tax purposes. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), also called IRA Charitable Rollovers, are an exception. Individuals 70½ year of age or older can distribute up to $100,000 each year from their IRAs to their favorite 501(c)(3) organizations without counting the distribution as income.

QCDs, are the savviest way for individuals age 70.5 or older to use their IRAs to maximize their charitable impact.

Whether you want to make a QCD gift to RTP today, request a tax acknowledgement letter for a gift already made, or just learn more about QCDs, please contact us for more information.

  • We accept donations of new, gently used, and reusable construction materials. This helps prevent usable materials from ending up in landfills by recycling them in the homes and facilities of our clients. Please keep in mind that we have limited space and labor, which means that all materials donations must be evaluated before we can accept them.

To receive a tax receipt for your donation, please fill out an in-kind donation form and give it to an RTP staff member. Or, please contact us at info@rtpeninsula.org for more information.

  • Donations are evaluated based on the following criteria:

    • Large appliances: Must be less than three years old and energy-efficient; no garbage disposals are accepted.
    • Bathroom fixtures: Only tubs, sinks, showers, and new (low-flow) toilets are accepted in March and April.
    • Cabinets: Only new or gently used complete cabinet units are accepted in March and April; units must include doors, shelving, and hardware.

Meet a Program Recipient

Not long ago, Kellie, a retired homeowner in Pacifica, was embarrassed to let anyone see her home. Ivy had taken over her backyard and was creeping through the sliding doors into her dining room. But RTP, along with volunteers led by Charlie, a skilled volunteer arborist, came to help. Alongside freshly power washed stucco and a newly-planted floral environment, Kellie now has a place to sit and enjoy her backyard. The repairs have heightened her spirits and her approach to her home -and her life. With natural light now beaming into the home, Kellie is excited to embark on further repairs herself, and is considering a canine companion for the first time!
