Volunteer Your Skills
Much of our success each year would not be possible without the generosity and commitment of volunteers. If you are interested in working with us toward our vision of safe homes and communities for everyone, then we’d love to talk!
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Site Captains
A Site Captain is the project lead for a specific work site on RTP’s Rebuilding Days, helping to plan and manage a safe and rewarding day for a volunteer team. A Captain may have specific repair skills, but general carpentry or advanced ‘handyman’ skills are not always required. Equally important are team leadership and project management skills, as well as the motivation and enthusiasm to contribute in a leadership role on a project.
Learn more about what a Site Captain does for us on this quick overview.
Hear direct from our Site Captains on the impact and reward that volunteering with Rebuilding Together Peninsula offers in this short video.
Skilled Volunteers
Interested in volunteering your ‘handyman’ skills but not ready to lead a team? We have project work throughout the year in our Safe at Home program that can utilize those with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or similar experience. For our Rebuilding Days, skilled volunteers can assist with prep or cleanup work, assist select volunteer teams, or act as day-of site runners to collect needed materials and supplies.
Other Volunteers
Community service-minded volunteers looking to assist our mission to rebuild lives without ‘handyman’ or contractor skills may be needed on special projects throughout the year. Whether assisting in our office on administrative needs, preparing supplies for a Rebuilding Day, offering marketing or photography skills, or helping us run various fundraising events, there may be an opportunity to join us.

Group Volunteer Descriptions
Rebuilding Days
Both of RTP’s signature Rebuilding Day events, National Rebuilding Day in April and Fall Rebuilding Day in October, rely on sponsors who provide crucial funding and volunteer support to directly help us on home and community facility projects. To learn more about sponsoring and the reward of a team volunteer experience on a Rebuilding Day, click the button below.
Special Projects
Have a team of volunteers interested in our mission and ready to work, but one of our Rebuilding Days doesn’t fit your calendar? We often can find prep or clean-up work that can accommodate teams of various sizes at a project site in support of a Rebuilding Day sponsorship.
Trade Associations
Are you a repair industry group looking for opportunities to volunteer your skilled labor onto relevant and meaningful work in the community? We’re always eager to connect with associations, unions, or ‘handy’ professionals to partner with us on projects throughout the year.
Youth Groups
Youth service groups looking to build a spirit of giving back and foster a foundation of community service are welcome to join us in our vision of safe and healthy housing. Project opportunities can range from Rebuilding Day work to assisting us in our warehouse with inventory and organization.
