Meet Alex Scalamandre, RTP Warehouse Project Specialist

Meet Alex Scalamandre, RTP Warehouse Project Specialist 1080 1080 RTP

Originally from New York City, Alex Scalamandre attended the United States Naval Academy where he played Division I lacrosse. He also played at the University of Arizona for two years. When COVID hit, Alex opted for an active lifestyle rather than attending school online. He joined the American Conservation Experience (ACE), a conservation group that provides hands-on experiences. He worked a year on chainsaw crews in Texas and California, and then recently was hired as Project Specialist for Rebuilding Together Peninsula.

The decision to accept the role at RTP was an easy one for Alex. He had a good experience volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in high school, and he enjoys working outdoors. “I love working here because the place is like family,” he said. “The work is definitely satisfying, and you make great connections with the homeowners.”

Alex recently spent a week working alongside one of RTP’s technicians to fix a homeowner’s deck, but he does everything from appliance pick-ups to homeowner repairs, paperwork, and prep work for National Rebuilding Day.

In his free time, Alex likes to fish, exercise, and play pickleball, guitar, and video games.
