When Ida, a San Bruno homeowner, heard about RTP from her niece, she was thrilled. The wood on the exterior of her home was rotted and cracked; the house hadn’t been painted in 20 years. Although she is a retired tailor for a luxury department store in New York City, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ida now lives on a fixed income. The expense was beyond her means, and the repair was more than she could manage on her own.
Thanks to RTP technicians, Frank Tijerina and Jesse Leandro, who power washed and caulked the house, and a team of volunteers from Wells Fargo who painted, Ida’s house now has a new exterior. “My mood has changed as a result,” Ida said. “When I look outside, the house looks nice and healthy.”
Everyone had a good time that day. Ida showed her appreciation by cooking a rotisserie chicken for all her helpers. From the new paint to replacing rotten wood on her patio and pergola, Ida’s home got a facelift that made her proud. Having lived in her home for over thirty years, the repairs have given her hope again. “The volunteers were angels sent by God,” she said.
